This April, between the 4th and the 7th, the 16th AMWC summit took place in Monaco, a world-famous location being the hallmark of luxury, refinement and “joie de vivre” and which quite naturally hosts the Aesthetic & Anti-Aging Medicine World Congress every year, under the High Patronage of H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco.

The Monaco AMWC takes place on NUNII Laboratoire’s home territory, only a few kilometres away from our head office located in the neighbouring perfume region in Grasse, Provence. AMWC therefore represents NUNII’s key annual French congress in 2018. AMWC has gained a reputation as the not-to-be-missed event in the international calendar of aesthetic medicine and hosts a wide range of professionals, exhibitors and practitioners who gather for this world-famous event. As an additional credential, the Congress is organized under the scientific supervision of the World Society of Interdisciplinary Anti-Aging Medicine (WOSIAM).

This year, AMWC 2018 marked NUNII’s 1st year commercial anniversary launch ; an opportunity to look back on and to celebrate NUNII’s lightening growth ; to meet and share feedback and user experiences with our family of international distributors and growing number of loyal NUNII practitioners and of course to meet future new international users and distributors of NUNII worldwide.

This year’s event featured a highly interactive, stimulating and multidisciplinary agenda and provided attendees with plenty of material and high-tech equipment demos to stimulate ideas, educate, share expertise, initiate debates and also obviously develop networking opportunities. Members and exhibitors were present to not only to share their enthusiasm and know-how, but also to feature their latest findings and services, as well as skin care treatments and product lines.

It must be noted that this year’s AMWC gathered over 10,000 participants coming from over 120 different countries worldwide, and along with them more than 300 prominent companies in the sector of skin care treatment and anti-aging. This year’s Congress paid a very special tribute to Taiwan, a country which is particularly involved in the sector of anti-aging medicine. The AMWC showcased a group of prominent and distinguished Taiwanese hosts, who made the trip especially to Monaco for the occasion, to better share their techniques and expertise. Taiwan’s geographic location between East and South-Eastern Asia makes it a country ideally situated, at the crossroads of populations and practitioners who deeply care about anti-aging protocols and products. Over the past years, Taiwan has managed to become one of the most dynamic markets for anti-aging products and expertise, and as such gathers numerous influential opinion leaders of the Taiwan aesthetics community.

The second highlight the AMWC featured this year was that of patient safety, since it has been highlighted by the World Health Organization (WHO) as one of its key strategic priorities. After the WHO launched its 2004 Patient Safety Programme, member states were asked to focus on the problem of patient safety. Its establishment underlined the importance of patient safety as a global health-care issue, and it translates into ‘a global attention to the absence of preventable harm to a patient during the process of health care’, as mentioned by the WHO.

More than ever, patient safety has been increasingly recognized in the health care professions as an issue of global importance, but there is still a long way to go to reach full patient safety ; and such issues debated were : patient assessment, high-standard care with the best and most suitable outcomes for patients, as well as best possible treatment-to-patient adjustments. Also, this felt need for safety-related issues was developed through scientific sessions, panels, live demonstrations and problem-based discussions.

This year especially, the AMWC provided attendees and participants with wonderful opportunities to discover cutting-edge techniques, share expertise and treatments in anti-aging medicine, as well as enabled all attendees to meet with the professionals, exchange with them on their feedback and allowed all participants to better grasp the global anti-aging medicine ecosystem, all of which was very professionally showcased in this year’s AMWC Monaco.
