For the first time, NUNII took an active part in the 22nd edition of IMCAS (International Master Course on Aging Science), the international trade fair for aesthetic surgeons and dermatologists, which this year took place from January 30th to February 1st 2020 at the Palais des Congrès in Paris. Year after year, IMCAS strives to achieve the highest quality of teaching through the interface of Plastic Surgery and Dermatology. For NUNII IMCAS PARIS delivered on its promises both in terms of the quality of the presentations and number and diversity of visitors and new contacts generated. IMCAS also represented a wonderful opportunity to catch up with industry leaders, partners and friends from near and far. No less than 265 scientific sessions with 819 renowned speakers – prepared for the yearly 15,000 attendees – took place during the medical congress this year (1).

IMCAS and NUNII this year

The IMCAS (International Master Course on Aging Science) congress was founded back in 1994 by Dr. Benjamin Ascher, a plastic surgeon and his wife, Dr. Sonia Ascher, in order to build a bridge between dermatology and plastic surgery. The event was originally designed as a small discussion between 50 European physicians to improve on dermatology and plastic surgery procedures and environments.  Over the last two decades, IMCAS has evolved into a reference international medical event dedicated to dermatology and plastic surgery with more than 15,000 attendees per year.

IMCAS is dedicated to achieving the highest quality of teaching through the interface of Plastic Surgery and Dermatology. The congress offers a wide variety of professional meetings, giving members the opportunity to meet with fellow professionals through booths, to stay informed on the latest dermatological techniques and procedures by attending live demonstrations on selected patients, and to take part in discussions on innovative procedures and products.

NUNII selected at the Jan. 31st Shark Tank Lecture Session

For NUNII’s inaugural participation at IMCAS PARIS, NUNII was honored to be shortlisted by the IMCAS scientific committee as one of only 14 international companies to compete at the IMCAS INNOVATION SHARK TANK. Each company was selected from hundreds of candidates based on their outstanding scientific research and product or molecule innovations that are set to become game changers in their respective fields of dermatology or aesthetic medicine.  Niamh COGAN, the co-founder of NUNII, presented the new genes discoveries in skin pigmentation and brand new treatment pathways and exclusive molecules NUNII has developed and patented in the fight against unwanted skin pigmentation. The presentations were supervised by a panel of judges including several professionals such as plastic surgeons, dermatologists, but also industry representatives and IMCAS Academy Executive, Mr. Laurent BRONES. NUNII received honours from the jury and created significant interest from participants. Dr Humberto Atunes, Co-founder and ex CEO of Nestle Skin health and Galderma who was responsible for bringing TRILUMA to the market commented that “The NUNII discoveries we extremely impressive and long awaited by millions of people worldwide suffering from pigmentation. He went on to say that the industry had not seen such innovation in skin pigmentation in many years and that if Dr Kligman was still alive he would be very envious of what NUNII has managed to achieve in offering an effective yet safer long term alternative to Hydroquinone“

Hydroquinone remains one of the most prescribed and researched topical skin lightening agent is hydroquinone (HQ), but it’s not without the problems typically associated with HQ agents, which may trigger skin diseases such as carcinogenesis and cutaneous ochronosis. It is therefore essential to find treatments against hyper-pigmentation of the skin that combine topical therapy with procedures such as chemical peels, intense pulsed light, fractional non-ablative lasers or radiofrequency, pigment lasers such as Q-switched, to enhance results (2).

NUNII’s Uniq White System skin depigmenting treatment live presentation by Dr. Treacy

The other memorable moment for NUNII was the demonstration of NUNII’s Uniq White System treatment protocol with world leading expert Dr Patrick Treacy, an undisputed guarantee of quality and confidence in the NUNII treatments by one of the greatest dermatologists of his time. In the world of dermatology, Dr. Treacy is a leading authority. He is recognized as one of the most influential aesthetic practitioners in the world being named amongst the MyFaceMyBody ‘Ultimate 100 Global Aesthetic Leaders’ (Las Vegas 2019, Los Angeles 2018, London 2017). His research has strongly influenced this specialist area where he has developed global protocols relating to dermal filler complications and wound healing (3).

It is worth noting that Dr. Treacy also serves on the editorial boards of four international aesthetic journals. He is author, or co-author of many articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals and has contributed to chapters of medical books. He has been a keynote speaker across Europe, Russia, the United States, and South America (3). This mark of confidence from Dr. Treacy therefore shows how reliable and respected NUNII depigmenting treatments are in the world of dermatology.

As exemplified by Dr. Treacy, many distributors, partners and physicians supported NUNII at this congress, and shared best practices and feedback on the NUNII treatments to date. With its distribution capacity in France and in many parts of the world, NUNII confirms continues to build its stronghold on the global market of skin care and dermo-cosmetic products.
